  • Your books and your children's work stay yours; we only use them to run Teacher Hoot for your family.

1. Who we are, and this agreement

Teacher Hoot is a study app for children, made and run by LiveQbits (www.liveqbits.com), called “we” or “us” here. These terms are the agreement between LiveQbits and you, the parent or guardian who creates a Teacher Hoot account.

When you create an account you tick a box to say that you are the child's parent or guardian and that you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Teacher Hoot.

2. Who can use Teacher Hoot

  • Accounts are for grown-ups.You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of adulthood where you live) and the parent or legal guardian of the children you add — or have their parent's permission, for example as a carer invited into the family.
  • Children never sign up.You add your children in the app; they choose their name on “Who's studying?” and use Teacher Hoot under your account and your supervision.
  • You agree on behalf of your children, and you are responsible for how they use Teacher Hoot.
  • A school or a teacher who wants to use Teacher Hoot for a class needs a School licence — please contact us first.

3. Your account and your family

  • Give your real name and an email address you read: password resets, invitations and receipts are sent there.
  • Keep your password to yourself. The parent PINis a lock that keeps children out of the Grown-ups area on a shared device; it is not a password, so choose one your children don't know.
  • A family can have more than one parent or carer, as your plan allows. Every parent in a family has the same rights: each can add children and books, change settings and invite or remove the others as the app allows.
  • Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

4. AI can make mistakes

🤖 AI can make mistakes.Hoot's lessons, answers, quizzes, marking, hints and study guides are written by artificial intelligence from the books your family adds. LiveQbits works hard to make them as accurate as possible, but we cannot guarantee that they are always correct, complete or suitable for your child's school. Please check anything important — homework, revision for a test, facts and figures — against the books or with the teacher.

Hoot uses artificial intelligence (Claude, made by Anthropic) to read your books, teach lessons, answer questions, write and mark quizzes, give hints and write study guides. AI can misread a page, get a fact or a sum wrong, leave something out, or explain it in a way your child's teacher wouldn't. Hoot only works from the books you add, so a missing or unclear page can also lead to a wrong answer.

  • Teacher Hoot helps a child study. It does not replace the teacher, the school's own materials or your judgement.
  • Stars, scores, badges and “what I know” are encouragement, not school marks or official assessments.
  • If you see a wrong answer, tell us (Grown-ups › Settings › 💬 Contact us → Report a problem) — it helps us make Hoot better.

To the extent the law allows, LiveQbits is not responsible for loss or harm that comes from relying on something Hoot wrote without checking it — for example a lower mark in a test or homework handed in with a mistake.

5. The AI agreement

The first time you sign in (and again if it changes), Teacher Hoot asks you to read and agree to this short AI agreement before anything else opens. It is part of these terms. Version 2026-11-01, 1 November 2026.

Teacher Hoot uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help your children learn. Please read this short agreement — it takes a minute.

🤖 What Hoot's AI does

Hoot reads the books and worksheets you add, and uses AI to make quizzes, study guides, lessons and flashcards, and to answer your children's questions. The AI is Claude, made by Anthropic.

⚠️ AI can make mistakes

AI can get things wrong, leave things out, or explain them in a way that doesn't suit your child. We cannot guarantee 100% accurate or complete education. Please check anything important against the book or with the teacher.

👪 You stay in charge

Parents remain responsible for checking Hoot's work and for the decisions about their children's learning. Hoot is a helper — not a replacement for school, teachers or you.

🛡️ Your privacy

Hoot's AI only hears a child's age and grade — never their name, school or birthday. More in our Privacy Policy.

💡 We keep improving — tell us what you think

We continuously work to improve Teacher Hoot. Please send us your feedback — ideas, praise, or anything that isn't right. The team reads every message.

💡 Send us feedback

You agree by ticking “I have read and agree to how Hoot's AI works, as set out above.” and choosing Agree and continue. If you don't agree, you can sign out: Teacher Hoot can't be used without it, and your children's pages don't open until a grown-up of the family has agreed.

6. Your books and what you add

  • Your books stay yours.Files you upload — worksheets, slides, photos of pages — and your children's answers and notes belong to you (or to whoever owns them, such as the school).
  • You give LiveQbits permission to store them and use them to run Teacher Hoot for your family: to read them, show them, send the parts needed to our AI provider, and make the lessons, quizzes and guides you ask for. We don't use them for anything else, and we don't sell them.
  • Only upload what you are allowed to use for your child's own study. Don't upload anything unlawful, hurtful or that isn't yours to share, and don't put other people's private details in books or notes.
  • When you share a subject with another family, they get its books (a copy, or one library worked on together) — never your child, their answers, chats, quizzes, guides or stars. Only share books you are allowed to share.

7. Using Teacher Hoot fairly

Please don't:

  • try to get into another family's account or information, or test our security without our written permission;
  • use Teacher Hoot to make anything harmful, or try to make Hoot say things that aren't suitable for children;
  • copy, resell or build a competing service from Teacher Hoot, or overload it with automated requests;
  • use the website's 💬 Ask Hoot for anything other than questions about Teacher Hoot.

We may limit or stop an account that breaks these rules, after telling you why where we can.

8. Plans and payments

  • Hoot Free costs nothing. Hoot Pro and Hoot Premium are paid plans with more children, subjects, lessons, quizzes and features. What each plan includes, its price and how long it lasts are shown on the website and in Grown-ups › My plan before you pay; prices may change, but never for a period you have already paid for.
  • Payments are handled by our payment provider (Stripe). LiveQbits never sees or stores your full card number.
  • When a paid plan ends and isn't renewed, the family goes back to Hoot Free. Nothing is deleted: Hoot Free's limits only stop adding more.
  • Something wrong with a payment, or a question about a refund? Write to us — your rights as a consumer under the law of your country always apply.

9. The service, changes and availability

We keep improving Teacher Hoot, so features may change, be added or be retired. We try to keep it running all the time, but it may sometimes be slow or unavailable — for example during maintenance, or when a provider we rely on (such as our AI provider) has a problem. Some features, like Hoot's natural voice, depend on your plan and on those providers.

10. Ending your account

  • You can stop using Teacher Hoot at any time. To have your family's account and everything in it deleted for good, write to us from the email you sign in with.
  • A second parent can leave a family (Grown-ups › Settings); they keep their own account.
  • We may close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or if the law requires it.

11. Our responsibility to you

We provide Teacher Hoot with care and skill. Apart from that, and to the extent the law allows, it is provided “as it is”: we don't promise that it will always be available, free of errors, or that what Hoot writes is always correct (see AI can make mistakes).

To the extent the law allows, LiveQbits is not liable for indirect or unforeseeable loss, and our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that the law doesn't allow to be limited — for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud — or takes away your rights as a consumer.

12. Privacy

How we look after your family's information — what we keep, what Hoot's AI sees, how long we keep it and your rights — is in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

13. Changes to these terms

When we change these terms we update the version and the date at the top of this page. If a change matters for you, the Grown-ups area shows “We've updated our Terms and Privacy Policy” and asks you to agree again before you carry on; the children can keep studying meanwhile.

14. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of the country where LiveQbits is established. If you live elsewhere, you keep the protections the law of your own country gives you, and you can bring a claim there.

Questions about these terms, or anything else: write to info@liveqbits.com or use Grown-ups › Settings › 💬 Contact us.
